New School Begins with Inspirational Branding
Thea Bowman Preparatory Academy is a new public charter school slated to open in fall of 2008.
Thea Bowman Preparatory Academy's educational brand story is based on four classic virtues of prudence, temperance, fortitude and justice, and the inspirational story of a Catholic nun and the "light" that emanated from within toward others throughout her life.
To project the brand story into a branded logo, Edge Advertising used the concept of trees of virtues with each classic virtue represented by the four upward pointing leaves.

Market fetes murals with music
To the pulsating beat of African drummers, a dozen colorful murals created by 10 local artists were unveiled Saturday at the temporary Eastern Market East Hall.
"Eastern Market was not planned, but it grows with the community around it," Ward 6 Council member Tommy Wells said at the noon dedication.
"With food vendors, it evolved with the community. Now that we've had this fire, there has been an outpouring of art - from the murals on the boarded-up Eastern Market, the children at Peabody school and now this art walk along the alley," Wells said. "They are all part of the evolution of our market, which is very special to all of us."

Eastern Market's "East Hall" Gets Local Artist Infusion
A public arts project sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities features 12 murals and a legend that displays along the alley side of the temporary Eastern Market "East Hall." Edge Advertising was contracted to design and install the project that combines elements of the historic Eastern Market window frames, the Eastern Market branding and the art from Eastern Market artists. "We found a way to combine the old with the new with the art. The installation enlivens the alley and creates a welcoming path from 8th Street to 7th Street," says Karin Edgett, president of Edge Advertising.
